Into Film Film Festival
Into Film is an education charity that aims to equip teachers with the skills, knowledge and resources to confidently use film within the classroom. Into Film Cymru’s work complements the Welsh Government’s objective to support young people in becoming capable, creative and confident students. These knowledgeable, ambitious and well-rounded young citizens can go on to contribute to a thriving, bilingual, creative and digital society. Our remit includes helping schools to run film clubs, inspiring teachers to use film in the classroom, producing curriculum related resources for learning through and about film, and running industry-led events such as the recent Q&A with Hollywood star, Rhys Ifans.
We’re currently organising the Into Film Festival which takes place in November and enables over 22,000 young people from all over Wales to access cinema screenings via their schools, thus providing cultural experiences to children, many of whom may not otherwise get the opportunity to visit a cinema. During the Into Film Festival, cinemas and arts centres from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Blaenau Gwent open their doors and host screenings and sessions on an array of topics; from the Holocaust, to career opportunities in VFX. As part of the Festival, Into Film work with national organisations and key partners to showcase how film can be a stimulus for learning, and we provide comprehensive educational resources to support teachers to use film on their return to school.
On the 15th of November, Into Film will be hosting an exclusive and unique event at Pontio, where we’ll be screening the critically acclaimed film ‘Destination Unknown’ and hosting a post-screening session with Nathan Abrams from Bangor University, one of the film’s producers.
