An introduction to Day 2 of the Literacy Leadership Development Programme

 

‘Reading for Pleasure and How to Teach it’ by Prue Goodwin, internationally renowned lecturer in literacy education and children’s books.

In conjunction with BookTrust Cymru, the GwE Literacy and Numeracy Team are offering Primary school teachers and Leaders of English/literacy in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey, the opportunity to meet Prue Goodwin (Author of The Literate Classroom and lecturer on Literacy and Children’s Books) and discuss the importance of reading for pleasure in the primary classroom. Prue Goodwin will also share practical advice and insight into how to choose and use great books for all students.

Over the course of the afternoon, you gain deeper insight into the benefits of reading for pleasure, take part in practical activities which will boost your confidence in choosing and using great new books and take away new activities and book ideas from BookTrust’s Great Book Guide.

This free event will give you the chance to enhance your understanding of the importance of reading for pleasure for students through exploration of research; discuss ideas and initiatives to get your students reading for pleasure, both in the classroom and at home; and take away ideas for great new books to inspire your students and activities to encourage reading for pleasure in your classroom.
