CaBan is the regional response to ‘Teaching Tomorrow’s Teachers: Options for the future of initial teacher education in Wales’ (2015). Its aims are to work in collaboration with regional schools and GwE to:
- strengthen initial teacher education (ITE) provision
- develop an increasingly professional workforce
It is a partnership of five equal partners: a wide variety of Lead and Network schools; Bangor University, University of Chester; GwE; and CIEREI. The partnership has successfully been accredited by the EWC to offer:
- PGCE Primary
- PGCE Secondary
- BA Primary
The work of CaBan links fully with the education reform journey outlined in ‘Education in Wales: Our National Mission’. It will provide opportunities for partner schools to:
- take a lead role in the develop an increasingly professional workforce
- support school improvement through collaborative working and develop Schools as Learning Organisations
- develop research capacity and support the development of pedagogy within school through links to HEIs
- deepen understanding of the New Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership
- further develop and strengthen mentoring and coaching skills
