Guidance for the Reduction of Teachers’ Workloads
GwE fully supports the guidance launched by Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kirsty Williams, and Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Meilyr Rowlands 14 September, 2017.
18 organizations, including Estyn, the Welsh Government, regional consortia and various unions have worked together on this project that is committed to helping teachers balance their workload. The guidance highlights what teachers should do, and what they should not do, when they are planning lessons, marking and assessing and collecting data, and also clarifies Estyn’s expectations.
A pocket guide will be distributed to all registered teachers in Wales, and each school will receive a poster for the staff room. They are also available below:
There will be regional presentations during this term in different headteachers’ forums to further raise awareness of the national agenda for reducing teacher workload. Presentation below for your reference.
